The file that I found had an extension of .mp4, but since the Archive wants to name its derived file with that same extension, I had to rename it .mpeg4.

Your workaround does work well.
If archive derives movie.mp4 to movie.mp4 what happens, a write over? I don't know, but for the film in discussion, and for all others of this type, the derived file is very broadcastable but visually inferior.
Anyway, your method successfully gets a good copy up for download, and that's nice. An advisory in the description with each of these telling the downloaders to rename to mp4?

If the archive wants to derive Movie.mp4, but that file already exists, no deriving takes place.
As far as I'm concerned, video filename extensions don't have to be just so. On my computer, I just renamed the file to
Night_for_Crime_1943.foo. Mplayer still plays it, of course.

Not bad for downloaders, but maybe bandwidth bad for viewers.
Thanks for the info. Seems like, right now, what the archive might do is subroutine movie.mp4 to movie512kb.mp4.
I really like seeing things actively working themselves toward being better. This collection is getting impressive.
